Gaming Resolutions for 2024!
It’s the end of the year and looking back at 2023 I completed over 20 games (I forgot to include Super Mario Wonder in my original post). 2023 wasn’t a year where I could sit down and focus on games due to a myriad of issues. But you know what, I’m finally in a place where I think I can put some time and effort back on this hobby. So because of that I’m going to share my Resolutions and Goals for next year when it comes to gaming.
Play at least one old JRPG
I played through the Final Fantasy I pixel remaster earlier this year and honestly had a blast. I want to keep that train rolling by playing at least one other older JRPG this year. (Final Fantasy 6 doesn’t count since I’m already in the world or ruin in that one). I’m thinking 16bit or higher. Likely candidates are Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7 or 9, or Phantasy Star 4 on the Genesis.I am notoriously bad at starting Zelda games and never finishing them. Despite consistently playing the franchise since the late 90s, I’ve only ever played Breath of the Wild all the way through to completion. I always get 5-10 hours in (or to the triforce hunt in Wind Waker) and then just stop playing for whatever reason. I’m doing something about it this year. I vow to beat either the Link’s Awakening Remake on switch OR A Link To The Past on SNES.
Play a new Boomer Shooter I love me some boomer shooters, but I didn’t play any new ones in 2023, just an older title in Amid Evil. Let’s change that. That new Warhammer Boltgun game looks good, maybe I’ll pick that up.
Those are my resolutions, and since that was a little short, here are my favorite games that I played through this year!
Favorite Games I Played in 2023
Battlebit Remastered came out of nowhere and filled the battlefield 4 sized void in my heart. Super Mario Wonder was a whimsical fresh take on the 2d Mario formula (Again, I forgot to include it in my previous post!). Mega Man 2 was a blast on my Anbernic RG35xx. I finally beat Castlevania Rondo of Blood on the TurboGrafx-16, and Sin and Punishment was an exciting story based shooter on the N64 made by Treasure.
What were some of your favorite games you played this year?
